CHAPTER READ: Revelation 13
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Revelation 13:9-10
9 Whoever has ears, let them hear. 10 “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.
OBSERVATION: Listen up! There is a day when for God’s people the answer will not be “deliverance” from persecution but rather a call to “patiently endure it and to turn from God or His ways. When those who are ungodly reign on earth and exercise their authority, the righteous will be arrested and/or put to death. Don’t give up! Remain true! God has not forgotten you.
APPLICATION: Whether the time in which this passage in Revelation has “fully arrived” is questionable. But what seems clear is that we live in a day when the World is making it’s own rules and unrighteousness reigns. Our own Nation has set aside the Word of God and it’s principles as a foundation for living. We must not think that as Christians that God will “rescue” us from trial and tribulation, but that the power of God will be revealed in the continued faithfulness and endurance through is displayed in the midst of injustice!
PRAYER: Lord, may I be faithful in standing up for what is true and just! May I not follow after the patterns of this world just because they have become the “norm” or because it is “easier”! May Your Word be the foundation upon which I stand! Amen
