SCRIPTURE SELECTED: John 13:5-7
5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
OBSERVATION: Jesus used this “lowest of low” task to show love. His disciples didn’t understand and were even uncomfortable that Jesus would wash their feet as this was a “servant’s job”.
APPLICATION: As a church, as followers of Jesus- we must love people. Each of us has a job to fulfill. The job is to love and serve as Jesus did!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that you open my heart and my abilities to serve others. May the Holy Spirit open my eyes to see where I can help others. Maybe I need not look any farther than my own back yard. Bless us as we find our significance in you. Amen.
