Thanking God for You

BY: Pastor Bob Miller
CHAPTER READ: 1 Thessalonians 1
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

2 We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

OBSERVATION:
As Paul begins his letter to the Thessalonians he lets them know that he is always thanking God for them and continually mentioning them in their prayers. Paul not only prayed alone but with those around Him for the Church at Thessalonica. He then encourages them by what he remembers about them: their work which is produced by faith, their labor prompted by love, and their endurance inspired by hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

APPLICATION:
Faith will produce “good works” which will flow from the love which God has provided. These good works and labor of love endure even in the face of hardship and persecution for Jesus Christ is our example and inspiration.

PRAYER:
Lord, this morning I pray for those in our church and I lift them up to You. Thank you for the work that You are bringing to completion in them. They continually share with others what You have given to them. Their hearts are filled with Your love and even in trials, they continue to show sacrificial love one with another. Thank you for allowing me to be part of their lives for their faith is an encouragement to me! Amen
