CHAPTER READ: 1 Peter 4
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 1 Peter 4:10-11
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
OBSERVATION: In the same manner that a steward uses that which they have been entrusted to accomplish the masters will, so each of us is to take the gift which we have been given to serve others and not ourselves. As we serve we draw upon the strength which God provides so that He gets the praise and the glory. As stewards and God’s representatives, we are to speak as if we were speaking for God and our words come from God. To Him belongs all glory and power forever and ever.
APPLICATION: Peter reminds us that we are stewards of the grace of God which has been given to us in its various forms. And that which has been to us is to be used to serve others and not ourselves. We are to live in such a manner that God through Jesus Christ is to be praised and receive glory and honor. As His representatives, our words need to be a reflection of Him!
PRAYER: Lord, not me but You! Live through me and use me today to be an instrument of the grace and gifts you have given to me to be used to serve others. May my actions and my words bring honor and glory to Your Name! Amen
