CHAPTER READ: Titus 1
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Titus 1:1-2
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time…”
OBSERVATION: Paul introduces himself as both a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. He doesn’t belong to himself, but to God and he is living to please his Lord and Master. As an apostle of Jesus Christ, his purpose is to “further the faith of God’s elect and to increase their knowledge of the truth which leads to godliness…in the hope of eternal life.
APPLICATION: My goal today is to live in such a manner that I first of all please God, whom I am called to serve. And His heart is to bring to salvation all that are perishing and to further the faith of those who are believing but who are still growing up in godliness. I then, am to live in such a manner that I am not only reflecting Christ through my actions but that I am sharing what I’m learning about living a godly life with those around me.
PRAYER: Lord, when I woke up this morning, I didn’t have in my mind “what you wanted for me”…I was all about what “I needed to do”. May I live into this day, mindful of the fact that there is much more that needs to take place today…then my own plans. Eternal issues are in play both for myself and for those You place in my life. Amen
