CHAPTER READ: 2 Thessalonians 3
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
OBSERVATION:
Paul asks for prayer from those in the Thessalonica Church that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored just as it had been through their lives. He then returns to a prayer for others that the Lord would direct our hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. It is God’s love that prompted Him to send His Son that we should not perish but have eternal life. It is Christ who “laid down His life for us” He loved us to the “uttermost” and did not give up or stop short. He persevered to the very end.
APPLICATION:
In my prayers for others, may it be that the Lord will direct their hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. And as I pray for them, may I realize that is also what I want God to work out in my life. That I may not stop short in my love for others and that my life will be patterned by how God has loved me.
PRAYER:
Lord, direct my heart into God’s love and to persevere as You did for me. And this is my prayer for my church and my family. May their hearts be directed into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. May they know that God loves them and will not give up on them. Amen.
