CHAPTER READ: Matthew 28
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Matthew 26:5-6
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
OBSERVATION:
The women came to the tomb looking for Jesus and instead of finding a corpse an angel appeared and said: “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, he is risen!” They came looking for Jesus to prepare Him properly for burial because He had been crucified. We still look for Jesus because He was crucified, but because He is risen we don’t look in a tomb. There is evidence all around us that He is indeed alive!
APPLICATION:
It is because of Jesus’ great love for me that He took my place on that cross and was crucified in my place. I still look to Jesus who was crucified…but He is Risen! In the words of that chorus: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fear is gone! Because I know He holds the future, life is worth the living, just because He lives!” May I never forget that He took my place on that cross!
PRAYER:
Lord, I praise You for your wonderful grace and mercy shown to us all. May I keep looking to You each and every day and may I seek to know Your will on a daily basis. Lord, I want to stay in step with You. Amen.
