CHAPTER READ: John 14
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: John 14:23-24
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

OBSERVATION: Jesus over and over says that those who love Him keep His Word. In these verses Jesus also states the reverse, that anyone who does not love Him will not obey my teaching. Loving Jesus isn’t a matter of “strong feelings” but rather of obedience. When we obey Him, we don’t remain alone. God comes to us and makes His home with us. We don’t have to wait to go to “heaven” to be at home with God. He comes to make His home with us here and now!

APPLICATION: When I obey the Lord, I don’t operate alone. I’m in good company! My whole household is with me, for I am doing their will! Together we are carrying out the will of our Heavenly Father. Oh how I want to live in obedience to His teaching.

PRAYER: Good morning Lord! So good to wake up and be at home with You! What do You have for me today? Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be better than anything I could come up with. So glad You will be with me through the day! Amen.
