CHAPTER READ: Titus 3
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Titus 3:4-7
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
OBSERVATION: Paul explains to us what God does for us in salvation. We are saved not because we deserved it or earned it, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and by the renewal of the Holy Spirit. He justified us by His grace, washing away all of our sins, adopting us into His family making us heirs with the promise of living with God forever. We get a brand new start, not simply to start over on our own, but with the Holy Spirit whom He has poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.
APPLICATION: Our salvation came to us through the kindness and love of God in the person of Jesus. He removed every obstacle that would keep us from obtaining His salvation and then He provided us everything that we need through His Holy Spirit which He poured out generously on us so that we can live life fully. Knowing this, my heart is filled with “thanksgiving” and I am in “awe” of all that He has done for me! I need to spread this good news to others both through my life and through my words.
PRAYER: Lord, Thank You! Thank You! THANK YOU! My salvation is your doing! I am a product of Your grace and mercy! Your Holy Spirit continues to teach, lead, strengthen, wash, cleanse and provide for me each day! Today, May I not miss an opportunity to tell of Your great salvation. Amen.
