He Is Committed to Save Us

CHAPTER READ: 1 Thessalonians 5

SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

OBSERVATION:
Paul restates a wonderful truth. God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that we all may live together with Him. God wants to bring about our salvation and went to great lengths to make it possible for us to live together with Him. His Son went to the cross to provide this Salvation. His heartbeat is for our Salvation, not our damnation. We can encourage each other with this insight.

APPLICATION:
There are times when I’m tempted to think that God is out to “get me” and to cut me loose and give up on me because of my failures or inconsistencies. But God has gone to great lengths to ensure my salvation. He sent His Son Jesus to make it possible that we may live with Him forever! That is what He always wants to bring about! Even when I feel unworthy – He counts me worthy! He will not give up on me. Nor will He give up on YOU! Just look at what it cost Him to save you. That is an indication of how much He values YOU!

PRAYER:
Lord, Thank You for the reminder of how much You are committed to my Salvation and what Your desire is for us as Your children. Your heart is that we may live with You! May I put that into practice today and include You in my life. May we abide together, both now and forevermore! Amen.
