CHAPTER READ: Ephesians 6
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Ephesians 6:9
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.
OBSERVATION:
Paul reminds us that we all live under authority…whether children, parents, slaves, or masters. To those that think they are above others, he reminds them that they have a Master who is in heaven who sees our actions and hears our words. With God, there is no favoritism. All are equal in His sight!
APPLICATION:
We spend too much time building and maintaining hierarchies. We put one person above another. We strive to be the top-dog so we can tell others what to do. Our importance is derived by how many people “have to do what we say” or in “whom we have to answer too”. God has no hierarchies, we are all equal in His sight. Our importance is found in the fact that each one of us has direct access to our Master and we each answer directly to Him. None of us are above or below anyone else…and that respect and honor must be reflected in all of my relationships with others.
PRAYER:
Lord, You are my Lord and Master. What a wonderful privilege it is! You set the example on how to serve and care for others. May I follow You and love as You loved. May my actions, attitudes, and words bring glory to You, today! AMEN
