Forgiven and Forgotten

CHAPTER READ: Hebrews 8

SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Hebrews 8:10-12
This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

OBSERVATION: God has made a new and far better covenant with us, where He put His laws in our minds and wrote them on our hearts. We will not just know about God, but we will know Him because He has put His Spirit within us. This new covenant isn’t just for our leaders but it is for everyone, from the least to the greatest. No one is excluded. He forgives our sins and remembers them no more.

APPLICATION: Our sins have been forgiven and forgotten! Through what Christ has accomplished for us, we are set free from our past. He not only declares us to be forgiven but He also gives us His Spirit to empower us to live in a brand new way, so that we don’t need to repeat those same sins. I find myself wanting to bring up my past and forgetting what God has done for me. If He won’t hold my past against me, why should I?

PRAYER: Lord, Thank You for going to such great lengths to bring about a more perfect salvation and establishing a way for me to live in a relationship with You. Lord, this is such good news! Give me an opportunity to share it with someone today! Amen
