TITLE: “Exalted above the Heavens”
CHAPTER READ: Hebrews 7
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Hebrews 7:25-27
25 Therefore he is able to save completely[c] those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. 26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
OBSERVATION: Jesus is the perfect High Priest for He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him. He isn’t a temporary priest who must be replaced, for He is eternally present always interceding. He walked in our shoes but was without sin. Unlike other priests, He does not need to first deal with His own sins before dealing with the sins of others, but His one sacrifice which was “once for all” was the laying down of His own life for us! us Christ who is interceding for us forever.
APPLICATION: Jesus knows all about me for He has been interceding for me since, before I was born. When I approach the altar, His heart is undivided! He is only concerned about restoring me and forgiving me and dealing with my own sins. He is more than I could ever want Him to be or ever deserve. I don’t need to hesitate, when coming to Him to forgive my sin.
PRAYER: Lord, You are my Savior and Priest! You alone are worthy and are exalted above the heavens! I can’t carry a tune – but I want to lift my voice with others to exalt You and give You praise and glorify Your name. May I find an audience today, to whom I can sing Your praise! Amen.
