Anchored in Christ

CHAPTER READ: Hebrews 6

SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Hebrews 6:19-20
9 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

OBSERVATION: Our hope of Heaven and our certainty of eternal life is secured not by our performance or lack of it, but by God’s love and the fact that we have a High Priest, in Jesus Christ who is interceding for us forever. The fact that He has gone to such great lengths to redeem us and adopt us and that He believes in us more than we believe in ourselves becomes an ANCHOR which we can trust in, that is firm and secure!

APPLICATION: In the same way that anchor holds a boat in place, and is attached to a foundation which will not “let go”…so it is that our salvation is secured by the promise of God and the love of Christ who is working on our behalf on a daily basis. We have an anchor that will keep us steady and enable us to live life in freedom focusing on others and not ourselves.
PRAYER: Lord, You are the anchor upon which my hope rests. It fills me with peace and joy and it sets me free to focus on others. That You are even now at the throne of God interceding for me, is an incredibly wonderful thought and an awesome reality! Wow! Thank you! Amen
