CHAPTER READ: 2 Timothy 3

SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 2 Timothy 3:10-11
0 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them

OBSERVATION: In writing to Timothy, Paul says “you know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose….persecutions, sufferings”. Paul shared everything with Timothy, whether verbally or because Timothy simply witnessed life as Paul live it. Paul was an open book and he laid his life out for Timothy to see. He then says: “Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.” For Paul, In everything, Jesus was still “LORD” of all!

APPLICATION: As a disciple-maker, it is important to share not “theological” truth, but to become an open book by which others can learn about how Jesus is at work bringing about deliverance in the everyday situations that arise. Paul was open about victories and trials, good time and bad. In it all, he shared Jesus as Lord. I need to be more forthright about the struggles I face, so that others can gain insight into the power of God at work!

PRAYER: Lord, make me to be an “open book” which when read brings glory and honor to your power to deliver. In this book, I’m not the star, You are! I don’t have to shine- You do! I’m simply the avenue in which you demonstrate your love and grace. Amen
