Instrument of Righteousness

BY: Pastor Bob Miller

CHAPTER READ: Romans 6

SCRIPTURE SELECTED: Romans 6:13
13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

OBSERVATION:
Since God has delivered us from being slaves to sin which results in death, we now have been set free to live a righteous life resulting in eternal life. And so now we have the freedom to choose whom we will serve. Paul says don’t offer any part of yourself to sin to be used as an instrument of wickedness but rather offer yourselves to God who has brought us from death to life…and in doing so we offer every part of ourselves to Him to be used as an instrument for good.

APPLICATION:
The sound that comes from a musical instrument is determined by the musician in whose hands the instrument is placed. A musical instrument in my hands won’t produce anything worth listening to…but in the hands of a musician, it can make beautiful music. I get to choose what kind of “music” my life will produce – by choosing in whose hands I will put my whole life into. Today I choose Jesus to be the One whom I place every part of my life. I can’t wait to hear what it will sound like!

PRAYER:
Lord, take my life and let it be an instrument for your good pleasure. Use me for righteousness’ sake. Forgive the times when I take myself out of Your hands and try to do my own thing. May I be totally Yours today! Tune me, play me, use me…I’m Yours! Amen
