A Mystery to Embrace

BY: Pastor Bob Miller
CHAPTER READ: Ephesians 3
SCRIPTURE SELECTED:
Ephesians 3:4-6
4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
OBSERVATION:
Paul was given insight into a mystery that had not been fully revealed until Christ came. It has taken the Spirit of God to reveal this mystery through the prophets and the apostles. This mystery is that God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Gentiles have been brought into the Kingdom of God and have become heirs with Israel until they become one body, one family, one church and that the Gentiles share in all the promises of Christ Jesus. This is an amazing revelation to the Israelites who believed that they were privileged and chosen to be God’s special people. Now, if indeed this is true, they needed to embrace this truth and live it out in their relationships with Gentiles whom they had previously been taught were outside God’s grace.
APPLICATION:
The issue before us in our culture is that there is a divide that separates us by race where we hold those unlike us as being inferior. Let us hear the revelation of our God who has made us to be ONE BODY and who has given His Grace and promises equally to all peoples, no matter their race, creed, or gender. We need God’s love to fill our hearts and to not only accept but to embrace people of all colors as our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

PRAYER:
Lord as you have been showing us the depths of our brokenness and the deep divisions that still exist within our hearts regarding those whom You have made to become our brothers and sisters, I pray that as Christians we will lead the way in repentance and set the example of how to love one another as You have loved us all. AMEN
