SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
OBSERVATION: The greatness and the generosity of God’s love is revealed in the fact that He has called us His Children! We who spent our lives dedicated to doing our own thing, going our own way, and ignoring His instructions, He has loved! It sent His Son to die for my sins, so that I can be adopted into His family. I am a trophy, a testament to the depths of His great love!
APPLICATION: God has not been stingy when it came to pouring out His love. He did not put limits on His love. I’ve found myself putting limits on the extent of my love for others. I tend to dole my expressions of love out as if I have a limited supply and I will run out if I’m generous with it. I need to be more like God and be more liberal with my demonstration of love. I’m pretty sure that I won’t be able to exhaust His supply of love.
PRAYER: Lord, forgive me, my stinginess. May I be more like you with the love that You have supplied to me. As your child, may I reflect Your nature! May I be extravagant in my love for others. Amen.
