CHAPTER READ: 1 Peter 1
SCRIPTURE SELECTED: 1 Peter 1:3-5
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
OBSERVATION: (What does it say?)
We praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for in His great mercy He has given us new birth that has sprung up into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We have been given an inheritance which will one day be fully realized. It is being kept in heaven and will be revealed in its fullness when we are brought into His presence by God’s power that is at work within us assuring us of its reality.
APPLICATION: (What am I going to do?)
We have good news to share for by God’s mercy we have been given a new birth, a brand new start with the promise that we have His power at work within us to enable us to live a brand new life which will bring us into the inheritance which He has provided for us. This hope we have is alive and at work in us enabling us to live worthy of His call. I need to spend my life living in such a way that I am bringing praise to Him for all He has done for me.
PRAYER: Lord, I praise You for doing for me what I don’t deserve. I praise You for your salvation and for the Hope you have put into my heart. I have a confident assurance that I will be with You. An assurance not based on my abilities but upon Your power which You are working out in me. Thank You! Amen
